<< BackPonderosa Homes Breaks Ground on New "55 and Better" Community in PleasantonPleasanton, Calif. – Ponderosa Homes will officially break ground on The Village at Ironwood, Tuesday, September 8 at 11:00 a.m. in an inaugural ceremony to be attended by Mayor Jennifer Hosterman and members of the city council. A new 110-unit subdivision of detached, single-family, age-restricted homes for residents 55 and better, The Village is designed to meet the needs of one of the nation’s most rapidly growing demographic segments.
“As a builder, we have strong roots in Pleasanton and are extremely pleased to continue our relationship with the city,” stated Cindy Douglas, vice president of sales and marketing for Ponderosa. “The Village will not only serve a vital purpose for the 55-and-better community, but will also help to revitalize Pleasanton’s real estate market.”
In spite of California’s continuing economic woes, Ponderosa Homes is boldly moving forward to introduce new residences that the builder feels will be highly sought-after among Bay Area consumers. According to recent census reports, Pleasanton’s 55-and-better population has grown by approximately 2,000 citizens since the year 2000. However, The Village is only the third detached, single-family community aimed at mature homebuyers in the East Bay, joining similar developments in Brentwood and Walnut Creek.
“The demand for this type of housing was too loud to ignore,” stated Douglas. “We have been surveying members of the 55-and-better demographic for months now, and our findings have been overwhelmingly positive.”
Offering primarily single-story models, The Village will feature stylish floor plans ranging from approximately 1,900 to 2,700 square feet. The private, gated community will include special amenities designed specifically for resident use, including a fitness center, pool and bocce ball court, as well as clubs and organizations to promote socializing.
Ponderosa Homes is also pioneering a green building initiative in Pleasanton that aims to create homes that meet Build It Green’s Green Point rating of at least 100 points. At The Village, homes will include energy-saving tankless water heaters, photovoltaic solar panels and other standard features to help conserve resources and mitigate utility bills. The community will also be built with a state-of-the-art storm drainage system and pervious paving materials to help clean and control water runoff as well as to reduce impact on local streams and the San Francisco Bay.
As part of the Ironwood master-planned community, The Village will join other successful Ponderosa-built collections including The Residences, The Estates and the recently-sold-out Ponderosa Classics. Ironwood residents enjoy access to a great array of community amenities including a private neighborhood park, a swimming pool plus cabana area, entrance to the popular Iron Horse Trail and much more. Ironwood also offers convenient access to downtown Pleasanton and local BART service.
The official groundbreaking ceremony will take place at Ironwood on Tuesday, September 8 at 11:00 am. To reach the groundbreaking from I-580, exit south on Santa Rita Road, turn left onto Valley Avenue, left onto Busch Road, left onto Ironwood Drive and finally right onto Reimers Drive, following notices to the site.
